I got an early morning surprise this morning – the new Passion CD. Earlier this year I attended Passion 2013 in Atlanta. After every conference, Passion releases a new album with all the new worship songs. The new album is called Let the Future Begin. The theme of Passion 2013 was this whole issue of modern-day slavery/sex trafficking and how this generation can abolish it. Passion launched End It Movement after the conference – a movement to raise awareness about the 27 million people being held in modern-day slavery. The songs that were sung at Passion 2013 are songs of hope and freedom. I loved last year’s White Flag and this one will be no different. It will always be special for me knowing I was in attendance singing along with 60,000 of my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Today was our first full day at Passion which consisted of two main sessions in the morning and one in the evening. After community groups we saw lots of these End it Movement signs everywhere talking about slavery as we were walking to the Georgia Dome. During the day you could see how massive the Dome is and how many people were here to make a difference. Matt Redman led off the morning session with songs like “Ten Thousand Reasons”, “Shout” and “Here for you”. “Ten Thousand Reasons” has been an impactful song for me this past year. I have so many reasons to thank and sing praise to the Lord for what He has done in my life. I really enjoyed the morning worship to start off our day.

They had us walk in silence to the Georgia dome. It was wierd seeing crowds of students walk and not say a word. They had us spread out all around a stage in front of the Georgia dome where we were each given a candle. As Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Matt Redman and Charlie Hall led us in worship songs, we each lit our candles one by one. The candles were a representation of the shining lights we are to be to the world. It was an amazing sight to see as we lifted up our heavenly Father’s name in praise.

I slept in this morning – I needed it. But I missed doing my devotions. Our room was crowed and we rotated sleeping on the floor. I was enjoying the guy time and the fellowship that comes with it. We went through Colossians 1:15-17 with our community groups. We discussed how we need to get back to the simplicity of God because we have created a westernized image of Christ. We forget he is the image of God. He is not detached from us and knows and understands what we are going through. After Matt Redman led worship during the morning session, Beth Moore spoke to us. She spoke from Philippians 2:1-11 on humility and how it is a unnatural quality that requires our pursuit. We are to model Christ’s humility and how he made himself nothing for us. Next was lunch. They had all 20,000 of us walk out the building and grab a box from Lenny’s sandwiches off a pallet. I was amazed how smooth it went. They must have an amazing partnership with this company for them to make this much food. Afterward, I went to a breakout session with Chris Hervertz from Word made Flesh. This organization raises awareness of the poor and helps gets people out on the field.
