After my morning devotions and coffee, we had breakfast. Eggs, potatoes, bacon, fruit, tortillas – wow. They really feed us good on these trips! We then all got together and Pastor Edgar gave a message from Galatians 6:8-9 about sowing and reaping. Xavier got to translate for him. He thanked us for coming down here and being an example to the other Mexicans. He mentioned how they can be selfish and that we are showing them what it is like to help one another. He said we are showing Jesus in our hearts to them and he encouraged us to be ready to sow because God wants to use us more. It was a great message to start the day off.

Even though I slept good, I woke up with a heavy heart. I was grieving for my family. I hate the brokenness in this world and what it has done to my family. God led me to some passages of scripture that provided me with some comfort.

Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Galatians 6:6-10

When you’re weary in life’s struggles, find strength in the Lord.

We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. I was happy that it contained a lot of fruit – plantains, mango, cantaloupe.. yum! Dr. Hugo thanked us for coming a shared a passage that God led him to this morning. It was Matthew 19:16-30 and it talks about leaving our loved ones behind to go do God’s work. He mentioned to us how we left our families behind to come on this mission trip and that God would bless us for it. I love his heart for the Lord and the encouraging words he gives.

They were splitting us up this morning. Some were headed back to Monte Carlo to finish up the cattle and the rest of us were headed to Tercera Calle to do some chickens.

“The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14

This comes from Day 1 of Experiencing God. Tonight was the first night of our small group (over 25 people – praise God!). I am excited to go through this workbook as I feel this study is perfect for this period of my life. Both my boys are doing the same study in their groups too. Last week I started reading Galatians to deepen my understanding of God’s Grace. I have been following along with Redemption church’s study guide and also been attending here and there to listen to the messages. My home church is studying the book of Hebrews for the year starting next week and we are going through the gospel of John in my men’s study group. I’m really excited to draw closer to God in my walk with these studies and to see what exciting things God has in store for me.
