Advent – Day 15

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

John 10:10 (ESV)

I had a fun time serving at the Advent Conspiracy booth today. I was encouraged by the many people giving so generously to make a difference in the world. It can be so easy for us to get caught up with the consumer part of Christmas. Jesus came to earth to give us the greatest Christmas gift ever and His example of humility and grace should set the tone for how we should approach Christmas. Advent – Day 8

I’ve been friends with Travis Chavez for some time now. I love his story of how he came to Christ. We spent some time on the mission field together when he was interning for Mexican Caravan Ministries and I would take teams down there. He is now working at Mission church in the high school department. Travis led his first team to Malawi over the summer and here is a video of some of the work they did there. Travis is such an inspiration to me and I’m always thankful to spend time chatting with him. Mission is asking people to give to Advent Conspiracy to help the kids there.

Compassion for consumption. Giving of ourselves to something bigger than any of us. This is Advent Conspiracy.  I want to make each day leading up to Christmas a day to worship Jesus fully. Mission church showed the below video and I was immediately on board with where I want to contribute and serve this year. In 2012, 8,500 orphans and vulnerable children in Chikudzulire, Malawi (for more info check out Somebody Cares) are able to have a nutritious meal everyday because of the charitable contributions of the people of Mission. Once again they want to feed 8,500 children a daily meal for all of 2013 and provide clean drinking water to 8,000 families. I want to give more of myself this Advent season and be a part of what God is doing in the world. I’m excited to see God do big things this Christmas.
