But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Psalms 5:11-12

Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.

Isaiah 43:18-19

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;
    no deeds can compare with yours.
All the nations you have made
    will come and worship before you, Lord;
    they will bring glory to your name.
For you are great and do marvelous deeds;
    you alone are God.

Teach me your way, Lord,
    that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
    I will glorify your name forever.
For great is your love toward me;
    you have delivered me from the depths,
    from the realm of the dead.

Psalms 86:8-13

As we prepare our hearts to join together at Passion 2015, we acclimate ourselves to prepare for what God has in store for us these few days. We are all on different paths and yet God is calling all of us to join together as one body in community at Passion. May we be bold in making His name famous as we go out into the world.

“In the wilderness prepare
    the way for the Lord;
make straight in the desert
    a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be raised up,
    every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
    the rugged places a plain.
And the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
    and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah 40:3-7

Louie and Andy reunite with their childhood youth director Ms. Gellerstedt

God wants to do immeasurably more in your life than you can imagine

This is the overall theme of Passion 2013. Andy Stanley prayed over all of us and for this week at Passion. Louie brought Andy’s and his youth director from their childhood days. She is 87 years old and she probably never imagined that these two were going to be lead Pastors of thriving churches. It was a touching moment for me because I still stay in contact with some of my youth leaders from my childhood days and I love sharing with them what God is doing in my life. I’m so appreciate for them sticking with me through those teenager years. Louie went into a little history of Passion and how God did immeasurably more in his life with this movement. He showed us a clip from a global movement in Seoul that he saw before the first Passion in ’97 that inspired him for the vision of Passion. Here are some notes from his talk:

God intervenes into our foolishness. We are held in captivity and a lot of it is due to our choices. But God breathes into the hard-hearted and puts a beating heart into us (Ezekiel 36:24-27). He wants to do immeasurably more in us.

The rest of the talk centered around Ezekiel 37:1-6. This is the famous passage of scripture in which Ezekiel is led to the valley of dry bones. These bones represent the hopeless. God asks if the bones will live and Ezekiel responds “Sovereign Lord, you know”. He doesn’t question God because he knows the power of God. This is different from when the father in Mark 9:14 who questions Jesus if He can heal his son. Jesus gets annoyed with his unbelief. But then the cool thing is that the father asks Jesus to help his with unbelief. Shouldn’t we be praying that to God? I know that there are many times in my life I don’t believe in the power of God and I need to be praying to God in my time of unbelief. It’s an honest prayer to God. Jesus then rebukes the spirit in the boy and lifts the him to his feet. The boy stands up because Jesus wants to do immeasurably more in him.

Everything is possible for those who believes (Mark 9:23)

From Ezekiel we learn four things: We need to keep hearing and receiving the word of God. He breathes life into us. He is always repairing and restoring and we will know He is Lord by what He does in us. When we are in the valley, God comes to us in our brokenness. The bound are set free and the dead come alive. He lifts us up and it’s all for His glory.

Advent – Day 16
4"x6" Post Card Template
: to adapt to a new temperature, altitude, climate, environment, or situation

As we come to Passion 2013, we do not come lightly. Rather we recognize we are gathering with our generation in the presence of God whose brightness and glory are beyond our comprehension. We are not simply coming to an event, we are coming to meet with the God of all Creation.

Thus, we want to adjust our thinking and prepare our hearts. We want to be ready. We want to be sober. We want to be fully awake.

To prepare the way we’re reading through the Word of God (several times), leading right up to the opening session on Jan 1. The text will be scrolling constantly so you can log on throughout the day, joining others around the globe as we sow His truth into the soil of Passion 2013.
