Today I helped move a friend’s mattress and box spring from one place to her apartment. The bed was given to her and she needed to get it today or she would lose out on the opportunity. She messaged me and I could tell she was struggling a little with asking me. As she was telling why she needed someone now, I simply stopped her and said “I’m on my way”. So we spent the day moving and setting up her bed and then we went out for frozen yogurt. We spent that time sharing about each others lives and cooling off from the heat.
I tell this story because she admitted to me her struggle with asking people for help. I love her honesty and it got me thinking about the body of Christ and how we are to be there for each other in times of need. We let our pride get in the way so many times. Her and I are blessed to be a part of an amazing group of selfless people who really care about one another. Her asking me to help helped break down some walls of her own struggles and it gave me an opportunity to be a blessing to her. There was no personal pride involved and I had a blast doing it. And on top of that I made an amazing friend in the process. I love how the body of Christ works and I’m thankful to God for the great people in my life to do life with and learn from.
