We sang some worship songs and Clara (a friend from my last church) gave the devotion of the night. She talked about Isaiah 61:1-2 and how God commands us to proclaim the good news to the poor. She gave her testimony and challenged us to be in the Word and to be led by the Spirit. She also talked about surrendering and repenting daily and had us cast a piece of paper in the fire containing something we wanted to surrender. For me, it’s my occasional doubts that God is sovereign. I was encouraged to see how much Clara has grown in her faith and thankful to know she was considering staying down here in Mexico to continue to serve these people. It’s awesome to see when we are obedient in the Lord and how He honors that.
