“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteous Savior.
Jeremiah 23:5-6
Before Christ was born, God had been silent for 400 years. No voice, no prophets, nothing. People knew the prophecy and were waiting for the coming of the King to redeem this world. But then God chose the most chaotic day for the Israelites to become flesh. He chose tax day – a turbulent time for Israel. And on top of that he chose the worse day for Mary to give birth to him. She was ridiculed for her pregnancy, had to ride a donkey for days and had to have him in a dirty stable with filthy animals. There was nothing perfect except for the little baby that was born. This is the hope for this season of advent and the message of why Christ came to this world. Amongst the hardships and trials of this broken world, God sent his son to restore. He came full of grace and truth. He gave his son for US. We don’t have to try hard, we don’t have to worry. We will always go through seasons of life. But this is the hope that Christ came to us for and he comes during the chaos of life. He comes into the mess of our lives. The hope is that he will restore us and this world. The greatest gift ever known to man.
“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to YOU; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:11
