We ask so many times… ‘God Bless Me ‘. ‘God Bless this…’, etc.
God is amazing. He loves us. He will bless us when we ask. That is what grace is all about. He wants us to enjoy his blessings. He wants us to soak in his blessings.
But his blessings aren’t just there for us to soak up… and do nothing. If we do that, then our value of Christ is low. We lack that hunger for him. His blessings were not meant to be hoarded. They were meant to be shared.
We see examples of God blessings throughout scripture. He uses different people throughout the Bible to be a blessing to others.
Gen 1:28 (creation of man) “God blessed then and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it!'”
Gen 12:12 (talking to Abram) “Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.”
The parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:13-21 “Someone in the crowd said to him, ‘Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.’ But he said to him, ‘Friend, who set me to be a judge or arbitrator over you?’ And he said to them, ‘Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.’Then he told them a parable: “The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to himself, ‘What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be? So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God.”
David, Jonah, Daniel, Moses – all people God blessed to glorify him.
God Blesses us…
To Be a blessing to others…
To Glorify Him!
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness in to his marvelous light.”
