Praising God through worship music. This has become a huge part of my life. I grew up in a conservative Baptist church and those hymns really did nothing for me. And I have never been into Christian music. In fact, I got a kick out of people who would raise their hands to praise God and usually poked fun at them. It made no sense to me and looked silly. Then a few years back, Cornerstone hired Brian and he brought new life to our church’s style of worship music. I really enjoyed it. But it wasn’t till I turned my life to Christ last year that I really began to feel God’s presence during worship time. In fact, usually during this time I have my eyes closed and I reach my hands up to Him. Its an incredible time with God for me. I have been trying to incorporerate this experience in my my everyday life – at work, at home or just driving around in my car. Constant worship in all I do. A couple of weeks ago, I experience being in arena with 22,000 other people praising God and signing out loud with hands up at Passion. It was an awesome experience. Last week at church, I sat alone. I was in the front and was just signing out loud praising God with hands up during worship. When the music was over, I noticed at least 10 pairs of eyes staring at me. I was the only one with my hands up. Was funny is that I was in no way uncomfortable in that situation. My Christianity has matured so much since the days of being ashamed to acknowledge that I was a Christian . But it did bother that most of the people around me were too embarrassed to openly praise God – in their own church. I love my time with Christ and I’m grateful I’m able to freely worship Him the way I want to.
